Welcome to PhDuh.com, the home page for Dr. Richard Newmark. Why PhDuh? I thought it was funny. It also reminds me not to take myself too seriously. I will make both academic and personal items available from this page. MountainboardingI love to snowboard. However, the mountains are two hours away and snowboard season is during the school year, so I don't get to ride nearly as much as I would like, so I got a mountainboard for my 40th birthday. I ride a MBS Comp 16. I replaced the 8-inch tires with the 9-inch tires used on larger boards, which makes it more stable when downhill mountain riding at places like Keystone. Here are a couple of pictures I captured from video clips my son, Quinn took using my phone.
The video clips on the left were taken with my phone and are in mp4 format, which will not play in either Windows Media Player, Apple Quicktime, or Real Player. The best player I have found for mp4 files created from my phone is GOM player.Another great alternative player is VLC media player. Both players are free downloads, and between the two players you should be able to play anything your other players cannot play. -Top- Model RocketryQuinn and I have been building and launching model rockets ever since we saw Rocket Challenge on the Discovery Channel. If it ever airs again, check it out. Don't worry, though, you can see high-powered rockets launch all around the country. These high-powered rocketeers are serious about their passion. Check out Ky Michaelson, the Rocketman. He launched a rocket into space. You can see high-powered rocket launches locally atNorthern Colorado Rocketry. They have regular club launches where you can launch anything from the smallest micro rocket to high-powered rockets that can reach altitudes over 10,000 ft. They also have two big launches, one in Spring and one in Fall. Another place we fly our rockets is the CRASH rocket club. They are strictly a low-power rocket club. Rockets can weigh a maximum of 1,500 grams (3.3 lbs.) and use a maximum of 125 grams of propellent (G and some H motors). CRASH is a great club for kids. Their launch site is at Bear Creek Lake Park near Redrocks. The link on the left has a few launches from one of our days at CRASH. More to Come Later |
